Introduction
An Open Letter to You
Dear Visitor,
Like you, I've heard all the buzzwords and cliches about the Church of Scientology. I've seen Tom Cruise
jump Oprah's couch, tell Matt Lauer that he's glib, and reem Brooke Shields for taking medication to treat
post-partum. But before all of this happened, back when Scientology wasn't often seen as more than just a random
punchline, I found it distasteful that so many people were so hard on Scientology. It bothered me the lengths
people went to just to object to someone else's faith.
I've always tried to be a good person, I've always tried my best to educate myself about the faiths of my
neighbors. I believe that if we'd just ask a few questions and listen to the answers, there'd be a lot less hate in
this world. So when all this Scientology-bashing came to my attention, I decided to look into it myself and find
out what the big deal was.
What I found wasn't anything like what I expected. It was so much darker and so much worse. But it wasn't
the faith that was so shocking, it was the organization. Suddenly all the punchlines made sense. This was right
around the time that the whole couch-jumping phase started. While everyone else was laughing, I found it hard to
take it so lightly.
The things I discovered aren't exactly easy to convey; it's a complex and involved issue. I don't think
it's hard to understand at all, it's just the scope of everything that has gone wrong with Scientology has gone so
wrong for so long that there's just so much information to take in and consider.
I've tried explaining the plethora of evidence, documentation, and information regarding the actions and
policies of Scientology and its leadership. But no matter how hard I try, it always seems so scattered as I jump
from one link to another, one document to another, and attempt to fill in the gaps with my own disjointed thoughts.
My message gets lost in the fray of overwhelming quantity. That's truly unfortunate, because this is an issue that
is so important, and yet has gone unnoticed for far too long.
That is why I have made this site. There are so many wonderful websites out there that contain really
brilliant and insightful information. Everything is out there to tell you the true story of the Church of
Scientology, but that information is scattered and very difficult to sort through. I couldn't seem to find a single
source that served as a clearing house for that information; a place that could walk you through this information
hand-in-hand, guiding you to all the best evidence that's been made available.
That's what I hope this site will be.
Here you will find summaries of all the most important points throughout the shaded history of the Church
of Scientology. With each summary will be a list of links to the best information, documentation, and evidence
that's currently available online. If you follow the links from the top of the menu through to the end, you'll be
led through vital information about the formation of Scientology, its founder, its current leader, its doctrines,
policies, organizations, convictions, and personal stories from the many people who have been so badly hurt by a
church they trusted.
In the midst of this, I will also do my best to tell you about Anonymous, a group of individuals committed
to bringing this evidence to light and bringing the leadership of the Church of Scientology to justice. I will do
everything I can to answer your questions, to tell you what I know, and tell you what's in my heart.
The purpose of this site isn't to slander anyone. It's not meant in any way to discredit the faith of the
individual believers. It's not meant as a joke, and it's certainly not a punchline. This is the cold hard reality
of an organization that exists today, who has hurt people in the past and continues to wreak havoc on the lives of
so many all over this world. I am ashamed to say that this has happened in my country, to my friends and to my
neighbors. My conscience will not rest easy until those who have violated the laws are brought to justice and those
who have been harmed have received restitution for their grief.
I'm not asking you to believe me. I'm not asking you to fight alongside me. But I am asking you to please
review the information provided here.
Most importantly, please come to your own conclusions. Follow your heart; let your conscience tell you if
what has happened is right, lawful, moral, or humane. Educate yourself, don't let yourself be blinded to what's
going on right now, today, right under your nose. Don't take anyone else's word for it - find out for yourself.
I absolutely believe in everyone's right to believe in whatever faith they choose. But I also believe
that any organization that uses religion as a facade for criminal activity is the single greatest threat to our
religious freedom. Any individual, any organization, that uses faith to control, manipulate, and abuse others does
not deserve our sympathy and does not deserve our protection. Everyone must be subject to justice and everyone must
be subject to the consquences of their actions, no matter who they are or what they believe.

Scientology church 'as Melbourne as Melbourne gets'
Former planning minister Justin Madden says a multi-million dollar Scientology church built in Ascot Vale is "as
Melbourne as Melbourne gets" because of the historical site on which it sits.
Mr Madden yesterday attended the opening of the Ideal Scientology Church on Mount Alexander Road to praise the
organisation’s community work and its restoration of the former Catholic church, according to a Church of
Scientology press release.
"Unselfishly, you work to provide ways and means to uplift our society. You have set the standard for the
community with your restoration of this building and with your social programs — an example I will point to for
others to follow. Your new Church is as Melbourne as Melbourne gets,” Mr Madden is quoted as saying.
Mr Madden said he attended yesterday’s opening as the Member for Essendon, as the church was located in his
electorate.
‘‘I was invited to speak to the congregation and I accepted such an invitation as I would if I was to receive
one from probably any church in my community. I’m not a Scientologist, I’m a Catholic,’’ Mr Madden said.
‘‘Basically my words to the congregation were very supportive of course of the congregation. ‘As Melbourne as
Melbourne gets’ relates to the building fabric itself.
‘‘[The site] was originally owned by the McCracken family who were the major brewers in Melbourne.
‘‘The original property has very significant local history.’’

According to the release, "the church now stands on the site of the 19th-century estate of Robert McCracken,
leading businessman and founder of the legendary Essendon Bombers football team."
Mr Madden was not the only senior public figure to attended the opening.
Melbourne Lord Mayor Robert Doyle also addressed the crowd, but has downplayed his attendance as "a favour" to
his friend, singer Kate Ceberano.
"I did this because Kate Ceberano asked me as a friend. I was there out of my friendship for her, not for any
other reason," he told 3AW.
Cr Doyle revealed that he arrived in the mayoral limousine and stood with Mr Madden to pull a cord which
officially opened the centre, but maintained he was there as a private citizen.
"In no way was this any affirmation or support for the religion or the church," he said.
"If people want to interpret that from my presence, that’s unfortunate but nevertheless that’s not the reason I was
there."
The Lord Mayor’s decision to attend the opening put him at odds with Victorian Premier Ted Baillieu who said he
was "no fan" of the church.
"I, like many Australians, have concerns about the role Scientology has played in the past and I’m not a fan,"
said Mr Baillieu.
In the press release, the Church of Scientology used both Mr Doyle and Mr Madden’s words to promote the
event.
"Having triumphed today in the name of our religion, you just flipped this planet all the way around so that
Melbourne now sits on top of the globe. And that’s what it means to build an Ideal Org beneath the Southern Cross,”
he said.
